To all Spirit Customers
A message from our Founder and CEO David Klizhov

I would personally like to welcome you to the DGtek Network and extend my commitment to provide you with the best internet experience available in Australia.

When I started building our network in Elwood, Victoria, back in 2014, I was determined to design a resilient, highspeed, and affordable Fibre Network. Today we have connected hundreds of buildings and provide internet to thousands of customers.

With the addition of our former Spirit customers, like yourself, we now can roll out our fibre network to your building and provide you with a better, faster and more stable service that is only possible with a full-fibre connection.

The roadmap is ambitious, but we aim to connect every Spirit customer to our fibre network within a year or less. We will assess buildings over the coming month and notify you when we know where your building fits into our plan.

I want to thank you for your support and patience over the coming months and look forward to providing you with the best internet connection in the future.

Yours Sincerely

David Klizhov

Roadmap to your fibre connection.
Over the coming year, we will be working with your Owners Committee and Building Management to upgrade your connection from Fixed Wireless to Ultra Fast Fibre Optics.
1 - 2 Months
1 - 2 Months
Stage 1 - Migrating customers in buildings already connected to our network.
There are some buildings we are already connected to or are at some stage of the connection process. For these buildings, we hope to connect you within the next 1-2 months.
2 - 4 Months
2 - 4 Months
Stage 2 - Migrating customers that our current network passes.
There are many buildings that our fibre network currently runs past or is very near that will be included in this stage. Here we will be working with Owners Committees and Building Management to accelerate the process of connecting to our network and upgrading your connection.
4 - 6 Months
4 - 6 Months
Stage 3 - Migrating customers that are near our existing network.
We are a Melbourne based network that has extensive infrastructure within our footprint. Running long tracks of fibre takes both physical labour and bureaucratic time but we are committed to connecting you to our network as quickly as possible.
4 - 6 Months
4 - 6 Months
Stage 4 - Migrating customers near existing fibre routes.
We have worked hard to build good relationships with other networks. If it is going to take too long to build it ourselves we will lease or buy fibre from other networks and manage it ourselves. For those living in NSW, Qld and some outer suburbs of Vic this is how we will connect. You will still get the same value and level of service we just need to expedite things till we can run our own fibre network through that area ourselves.
6 - 12 Months
6 - 12 Months
Stage 5 - Customers without proximity to fibre routes.
This is something we are still investigating. "Too hard, not interested" is not something we believe in. Every Australian deserves fast, affordable, reliable internet and DGtek is going to be the ones to deliver it.
Who is DGtek?
We are building the Fibre Network Australia deserves.
DGtek Pty Ltd (ABN:61 600 896 115) is a registered Australian Telecommunications Infrastructure Carrier (C2015G01538) that designs, builds, operates and maintains high-speed Optical Fibre Networks. We are a certified quality company in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS/NZS 4801.
We started as a small business in Elwood, Victoria, in 2014. Since then, we've built a network passing over 100,000 premises, spanning from the Melbourne CBD down to the south-eastern suburbs.

We've connected Melbourne icons such as Edgewater Towers, Aurora and QV1, and we're rapidly adding to that collection.

We're committed to giving all Australians the best possible internet experience. So far, we've developed the fastest residential optical fibre network in the country, and we're just getting started.
Experience the DGtek Difference!
Leave average internet at the kerb
and enjoy a full-fibre internet service.
Faster Speeds
Life's too short for slow internet.

With speeds of up to 1000Mbps, that means faster downloads, better quality video calls and higher resolution movie streaming - across multiple devices - at the same time. What are you waiting for?
Symmetric Bandwidth
Perfect for working from home

Unlike other networks, upload as fast as you download. Whether you're working in the cloud, backing up your phone or meeting online, eliminate dropouts, freezing or buffering - on your end!
Low Latency
Never miss a beat!

Do you watch or stream live videos or play online games? If it's happening now, then you need a low latency connection. Get a leg-up on your competitors with a 1ms ping. You can stop blaming lag and get good.
Your Questions Answered
We understand you probably have lots of questions about why this is happening. If you need more answers, please use the contact form below to get in touch.
What has happened to Spirit, and why is DGtek my new provider?
Spirit Telecom has, in recent years, made a shift from residential internet to IT Managed Services. It takes many resources to run a network, and a lot has changed in the residential broadband market since Spirit started its fixed wireless network.

Spirit needed to find a suitable carrier, willing to take on their residential customers and provide them with the best internet experience possible.

DGtek's entire mission is building our fibre network. Taking on Spirits customer base allows us to expand our reach and service more people, effectively doubling our existing footprint.
Who is DGtek?
DGtek Pty Ltd (ABN:61 600 896 115) is a registered Australian Telecommunications Infrastructure Carrier (C2015G01538) that designs, builds, operates and maintains high-speed Optical Fibre Networks. We are a certified quality company in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS/NZS 4801.

What is the difference between DGtek and Spirit's technology?
Currently, you connect to the internet through Spirit's fixed wireless network.
In basic terms, this means your internet signal goes
  • from your modem/router
  • through your buildings data cabling and switches
  • to a wireless receiver on the roof
  • to a wireless receiver on a tower
  • that connects to fibre cabling
  • to a data centre that connects you to the internet
The wireless receivers are convenient to make easy connections to multiple buildings but, as you may have experienced first-hand, can be unreliable in terms of speed and connection stability. Wireless is negatively affected by various environmental factors such as the weather, competing signals and distance.

DGtek plans to upgrade every building to a direct fibre connection. So your internet signal will go
  • from your modem/router
  • through your buildings data cabling and switches
  • that connect to fibre cabling
  • to a data centre that connects you to the internet
Fibre cabling is interference-free, and the way we have built our network is like having a ten-lane superhighway for a suburban street. We don't have evening speeds, just superfast, reliable internet.
Is this the NBN?
NBNco is a publicly owned wholesale data network made from a mesh of different technologies, including copper, fibre, fixed wireless, satellite and hybrid fibre-coaxial. Whilst, DGtek is not associated with NBNco, we are very much part of the Government's strategy and legislative framework to build a National high-speed Broadband Network.

The difference with DGtek is we are free from the encumbrance of Australian politics and the inclusion of legacy technology within our network. We design, build and maintain our own full-fibre network allowing us greater flexibility, like offering better speeds, significantly cheaper pricing and symmetrical uploads, which is essential in our modern work from home environment.
What happens in the meantime, until the upgrade?
In short, nothing will change in the immediate future. As part of our agreement with Spirit, we will continue using their fixed wireless network until we migrate you to our network. In the short term, we will also be using some of their outsourced customer service and support systems until our Melbourne-based customer service and support team is ready to take over. If you are currently unhappy with the connection you have, please do let us know. As part of our initial assessment, we will prioritise sections of the network experiencing below average service.
Do you think there will be any holdups with the rollout?
Rollout delays are something we can answer more fully once our network audit is complete. The main areas of concern that may impact rollout will be:

  • Gaining access and approval for works in each building.
  • Unsuitable or poor internal wiring.
  • Worldwide supply chain issues related to COVID.
  • Negotiations to access third-party infrastructures like telecommunication pits and dark fibre routes.
  • Remote locations where fibre access will be difficult.

We have already factored some of these issues into our initial roadmap and will keep individual customers and buildings aware of any change once our audit is complete.

Is there anything I can do to help speed up the process?
We will be working with Owners Committees and Building Management to facilitate the transition to our network. We like to build lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with the buildings we connect. If you are a member of the Committee, then we will be approaching you to help facilitate this. It means approving site surveys and remediation works as we connect and upgrade existing infrastructure. In most cases, this will not disrupt the buildings' day-to-day activities and will not incur additional costs. In some cases, we may also request permission to advertise our service to residents not connected through flyers, noticeboards and online communication platforms.
Who is Pineapple Net and why will they be managing my account?
DGtek is the infrastructure provider. We design, build and maintain fibre optic networks and are a wholesale internet supplier to Retail Service Providers (RSPs).

Pineapple Net is an RSP that is a partner of DGtek. Pineapple Net focuses on selling and marketing our internet service to residents and manages residential billing, customer enquiries and level 1 technical support.

We also work with many other RSPs who offer connections to the internet through our network. These other RSPs are all excellent companies and offer unique plans and services. For instance, if you need a voice service with your connection, we have RSPs who specialise in that.
Why can't I keep my existing plan after migrating to DGtek?
Spirit had over 50 different plans ranging from 15mbps to 1000mbps and varying drastically in price. DGtek doesn't offer speeds under 50mbps since it reduces the network's overall performance, and Pineapple Net provides the best pricing in Australia for ultrafast symmetrical broadband.

You will either be paying less, receiving more or both by changing to a Pineapple Net plan. In some cases, we will be assisting customers who cannot afford more than what they are currently paying.
