DGtek and Exetel have joined forces in central and south east Melbourne to provide full fibre point to point broadband services to business customers, offering symmetrical speeds of up to 1Gbps.
Over 20,000 businesses, large and small, are now able to access gigabit-capable internet services from DGtek, with the service to be made available through Exetel, one of Australia’s leading RSPs, from 13th May 2020.
DGtek now owns and operates over 70km of fibre optic network extending from the data centres in Port Melbourne to Moorabbin, branching to the CBD, South Melbourne, St Kilda, Elwood and Bentleigh.
Over the past 12 months, DGtek has invested heavily in its network resilience, independence and reliability, including substantial investment in the major data centres of Port Melbourne and its own peering network to include AWS, Microsoft and others. This new capability means DGtek can offer tailored solutions for corporate customers, such as data centre colocation, in addition to its traditional offering of ultra-fast broadband services to businesses and residents. This model has also allowed DGtek to leverage excess fibres to offer wholesale products such as dark and lit fibre services at a materially lower price than other providers in the market.
